
Taraneh Maghamé has more than 18 years of experience practicing law at well-recognized large law firms such as Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison, and Perkins Coie, and serving as in-house counsel at a number of public technology companies, including Compaq Computer Corporation and Hewlett-Packard Company. Prior to founding the firm, Ms. Maghamé was a Vice President at Tessera Technologies in San Jose, California, where she created and was responsible for the company’s government relations program, and provided legal support for intellectual property strategy, licensing and litigation matters as well as a range of corporate and business matters including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and investor and media relations. Ms. Maghame was recently invited to testify before the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary and the Federal Trade Commission in connection with the impending patent reform legislation. Ms. Maghamé has represented clients in a range of matters, with particular focus on intellectual property and government relations. The depth and breadth of her experience provides her with the unique ability to expertly serve the legal and policy needs of her clients. Her experience includes:
- Serving as key member of management team of public technology company and legal advisor to executive team and Board of Directors
- Leadership and management of corporate communications in periods of crisis and transition, including CEO and CFO changes
- Hands-on management of teams of attorneys in multi-million dollar intellectual property and commercial litigation matters in federal courts, the International Trade Commission and foreign jurisdictions
- Management of international anti-counterfeiting program for a major technology company
- Proven leadership in strategic planning, budgeting and management of in-house legal teams
- Extensive experience and superior skills in negotiating and managing acquisitions and licensing deals;
- Sole responsibility for developing and managing company government affairs program, including participation in meetings, briefings and hearings on Capitol Hill
- Management of media and public relations activities relating to litigation and IP matters
Ms. Maghame received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center and her undergraduate degree from California State University at Northridge. She is admitted to the state bars of California and Washington, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Maghame has extensive experience litigating intellectual property and complex commercial cases in the courts of the states of California and Washington and before the United States International Trade Commission. She is registered to represent clients before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
